On Vinayaka Chaturthi, devotees worship Lord Ganesha with 21 types of sacred leaves (Patra). Each leaf is offered with the chanting of a special mantra (one of the 21 names of Ganesha). This ritual is called Eka-Vimshati Patra Puja and symbolizes offering all 21 aspects of our being to the Lord.
